Prof. Patrick Aina becomes Vice-Chancellor

The Governor of Ekiti State and Visitor to the Ekiti State University, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has approved the appointment of Professor Patrick Oladipo Aina as the Vice-Chancellor of the University.

A Professor of Soil Physics, the new Vice-Chancellor obtained his B.Sc. degree in Agriculture with First-Class (Hons.) at the then University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 1972 and obtained his Ph.D in Soil Physics at the Ohio State University, United States of America in 1977.

He had earlier, in 1976, obtained a certificate in Keys to Agricultural Development at the University of Washington, Pulma, United States of America.

The new Vice-Chancellor became a Professor in 1989.  From 1977 till date, he has been teaching Soil Physics, Soil and Water Management and Soil Conservation at the Obafemi Awolowo University. He had been External Examiner to several Universities including the University of Ibadan, University of Nigeria Nsukka,  Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Federal University of Technology Minna, University of Maiduguri and the University of Lagos.

An erudite scholar, the new Vice-Chancellor has authored several books and has over 100 publications both in national and international journals.

The Vice-Chancellor is a member of several academic and professional bodies including the World Association of Soil and Water Conservation, International Soil Tillage Research Organization, International Soil Science Society and many others.

Professor Oladipo Aina aged 62, is from Iloro-Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State.  He is married to Professor (Mrs). Olabisi Aina.  The marriage is blessed with children.
