The Directorate of Distance Learning is presently headed by Prof. J.B. Ayodele with Mr. F.O. Olanipekun as Secretary
The Council and Senate approved the establishment of Directorate of Distance Learning to cater for flexible and quality learning through the internet. The programme of the Directorate will cut across all the faculties of the University, except the laboratory-based programmes.
Consequently, the Vice-Chancellor approved a Committee to organize the inauguration and sensitization programme for the entire University staff with the Theme ” Widening Access to Quality University Education through Distance Learning Programme’. The Inauguration and Sensitization Workshop was held on Tuesday, 30th September, 2014, and was attended by the members of the University Community. The resource persons were drawn from experts in Open and Distance Education.
Ekiti State University establishes the Distance Learning Programme on the Philosophy that, higher education should be made accessible and affordable to eligible citizens of the State and Nation irrespective of their location. In order to be relevant, education must be continually responsive to the changing imperatives of their socio-economic, political and technological development of the nation.
Sequel to the above, the University shall through this programme raise men and women imbued with the requisite skills. Knowledge and competencies to be the arrow heads of the social, political, economic and technological development of the global community and Nigeria in particular.
To be a centre of excellence in distance education delivery in the training of high quality personnel who will be agents of positive transformation of the educational, economic and industrial development locally and globally.
To create a unique Distance Learning Programme in the pursuit of academic innovation skill-based training and a tradition of excellence in teaching, research and community service.
