EKSU, BURSARY DEPARTMENT HOLDS SEMINAR FOR ACCOUNTANTS - Set to bridge gap between students and staff
To bridge the wide gap between students and staff in the University, the Bursary department of Ekiti State University, Ado – Ekiti, has Organized a one day seminar for heads of Directorates, heads of units, Faculty Accountants and other senior members of staff in the department.
The University Bursar, Mr Abimbola – Titiloye Owolabi in his opening remarks, explained that students should be the priority of staff in the University. According to him, the focus of the seminar was to orientate the Bursary staff on how to relate well with students, specifically, in the Accounting section of the University.
Mr Titiloye – Owolabi, said the seminar would also enhance professionalism with a view to repositioning accountants for greater service and relevance.
The Vice Chancellor, Ekiti State University, Professor Edward Olanipekun, who declared the seminar open commended the Bursar for his efforts to bring dynamism to the Bursary operations of the University system and urged the accountants to always mentor the students in order to change their orientation to pay as and when due.
He disclosed further the University’s preparation to commence students’ revalidation exercise and urged Accountants to fasten their seat belts to make the exercise a success.
Professor Olanipekun expressed his optimism that at the end of the seminar all the accountants would have been better informed.
Various tropics selected for discussion included: “An Accountant as a father figure in the university system: Concept of loco parentis” delivered by Mr Osesusi, FCA, the Acting Director, “Accounting services. Treating Students the Right way” was delivered by Professor L. O. Ademilua, Dean, Students’ Affairs and “Handling of Students and Students’ needs within the University Campus”, delivered by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Patrick Tedela.
