EKSU, ONE OF THE BEST SOUGHT INSTITUTIONS, RANKED AS 3RD BEST STATE UNIVERSITY

Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti has been described as one of the best sought ivory towers in the country. This is coming owing to the institution’s recent ranking as the 3rd best state university and the 16th best in Nigeria.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Edward Olanipekun made the remarks in an address he delivered at the 2020/2021 matriculation ceremony of the newly admitted students of the university in affiliation with Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, Oyo State.

In the recent webometrics ranking of institutions across the globe, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti was ranked as the 3rd best State University, 16th best in Nigeria and the 3018 best in the world, out of a total of 30,000 institutions that were ranked across the globe.

The Vice Chancellor maintained that this was so, owing to the institution’s pride of academic excellence, quality of its graduates and research output.

According to the Vice Chancellor, the solemn pledge, vision and mission of Ekiti State University, is to produce men and women of honour equipped with qualitative education, strong character, high level of morality and integrity. He assured further that the university would continue to improve on its standard.

Professor Olanipekun who congratulated the matriculants, however, advised them to shun all anti-social behaviours, such as cultism, indecent dressing, rape, drug abuse, gangsterism and gender – based violence, among others.

In his address of welcome, the Provost of the College, Dr Rasak Adefabi commended the quality of the staff of the College, adding that within the last one year, over 15 of its staff bagged Ph.D in different areas of specialization.

Dr Adefabi advised the matriculants to conduct their affairs with high level of moral disposition devoid of any undue influence and interference.

The matriculation oath was earlier administered on the 2,048 regular degree and sandwich students by the university Registrar, Mr Ife Oluwole.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Professor Edward Olanipekun has been receiving series of congratulatory messages on the university’s recent ranking.

The Alumni Association of the university, in its congratulatory message commended the leadership acumen of the Vice Chancellor.
