LUGARD AGBOMOAGAN LAUNCHES SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR EKSU LAW STUDENTS WITH 50% LAW SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP FOR 54 BENEFICIARIES




An alumnus of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Barrister Lugard Gbenga Agbomoagan who is the Founder and CEO, Send a Child to School Initiative and Joseph & Oreoluwa Agbomoagan Foundation, has launched a scholarship scheme for EKSU Law students.
While formally launching the scholarship scheme, the Founder pronounced 50% Law School scholarship for all the fifty four (54) 500 level students who were present at the occasion. The announcement was greeted by a moment of great jubilation by the joyous students.
The Legal Practitioner who bagged his LLB from the Faculty of Law, Ekiti State University, informed the gathering at the launching ceremony that he was inspired by the initiative of giving back to the society from some specific individuals who rescued him from financial constraints while pursuing his legal profession as a student in the University.
Speaking further at the event, Barrister Lugard emphasized the critical role of alumni, who are always expected to return and give back to their alma mater, in the development of higher education. According to him, “No School can succeed without the important roles of its alumni” .
He stated that a merit award would be created in the Development of Educational Management in honour of the Vice Chancellor who was the overall best graduating student of the university in his set. While expressing his passion for human capital development, he used the occasion to encourage guests at the event and all the alumni of the institution to come to the aid of the University.
Barrister Agbomoagan added that, the building of our educational system should not be seen as a sole responsibility of Government. He however, appealed to the university authority to always endeavour to give students of the institution maximum fair treatment in order to encourage them to remember the University for good in the nearest future.
As part of his philanthropic gesture, the young Barrister also donated a solar power generating system to the Faculty of Law which he officially handed over.
The Vice Chancellor, Ekiti State University, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele could not hide his joy for the good initiative of the NGO under the leadership of a product of the University. Having welcomed all members of the Foundation and other alumni who came to support the initiative, the vice Chancellor commended them for complementing the effort of the Government and the Management at making the University globally competitive.
Professor Ayodele remarked that, various projects worth billions of Naira, both completed and ongoing, have either been sponsored or facilitated in the institution by the alumni in recent times. He, therefore, encouraged all the alumni of the institution to emulate the great move.
The Dean, Faculty of Law, Professor B. Abegunde expressed appreciation to the Founder and all who contributed in one way or the other for supporting the good development in the Faculty. One of the students from the Faculty who spoke on behalf of his colleagues thanked the benefactor and Management for allowing such collaboration.
