Mr. Ogunlusi Michael Kayode

Head/Coordinator, DICT

Mr. Ogunlusi Michael Kayode is a seasoned Information Technology Professional and Educator, currently serving as the Director of the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology at Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria. Born on July 26th, 1964 in Oloje-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria, Michael has built a career that spans over four decades in the fields of computer science and information technology, significantly contributing to the digital transformation of EKSU and other educational institutions in Nigeria.

 

Mr. Ogunlusi began his academic journey at St. Andrew’s Primary School, Itaji-Ekiti, and later attended Ayede Grammar School, Ayede-Ekiti where he completed his secondary education. His passion for computing led him to the College of Information Technology in Akure, where he obtained a City & Guilds (Final) qualification certificate in Data Processing for Computer Users in 1983. He continued to expand his expertise in computer science, earning a B.Sc. (Ed) in Computer Science from the University of Ado-Ekiti (now EKSU) in 2002 and further certificates in ICT and advanced digital appreciation programs.

 

His professional career commenced at Ondo State University, which later became Ekiti State University, where he has held various roles in data management, IT operations, and computer systems supervision. He ascended through the ranks, from Executive Officer (Data) to his current role as Director of ICT. In this capacity, Mr. Ogunlusi has spearheaded numerous projects, including the installation and supervision of local area networks and internet infrastructure at EKSU, donated by organizations like Shell, Nigeria Information Technology and Development Agency (NITDA) Universal Service Project Fund (USPF) Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund),  the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) just to mention a few.

 

Mr. Ogunlusi is an active member of professional bodies such as the Nigeria Computer Society (MNCS) and the Computer Professionals’ Registration Council of Nigeria (MCPN). He has presented papers on the role of ICT in Education in the Modern Society at several National and International Conferences. Additionally, he is deeply involved in the academic life of EKSU, conducting tutorials, guiding students and Academic staff research, and serving on various committees related to ICT infrastructure and computerization He was the representative of Congregation in Council Committee on ICT development in EKSU from 2015 to 2023 .

 

Mr. Ogunlusi is a family man, married with four children, and enjoys football, music, reading, and playing Ayo-Olopon in his spare time.

 

Key Achievements:

 

  1. Directorate Leadership: Appointed Director of ICT at EKSU in 2023 to date, leading major technological advancements and overseeing the institution’s digital transformation.
  2. Infrastructure Development: Supervised the installation of significant internet and network infrastructures at EKSU, including projects supported by Shell, NCC, and NITDA.
  3. Project Leadership: Led the computerization of key systems, including payroll, personnel records, and examination processing in Ondo and Ekiti states, contributing to efficient educational administration.
  4. Professional Certification: Obtained multiple certifications in ICT and digital appreciation, including the Chartered Information Technology Practitioner Certificate (CPN) in 2013.
  5. Capacity Building: Trained EKSU staff and students in various ICT applications, and coordinated SIWES (Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme) activities for the ICT centre.
  6. Publications: Authored several instructional texts, including works on Data Processing, FORTRAN programming, Assembly Language programming, Computer Architecture, and Networking and Internet Applications etc.
  7. Conference Contributions: Presented papers at numerous conferences and workshops, discussing the role of ICT in modern education and youth development.
  8. Community Service: Served as a lecturer and resource person for various community and academic programs, enhancing ICT knowledge at multiple levels of society.
