THE DIRECTORATE OF PART - TIME AND PREDEGREE PROGRAMMES
Dr. Arogundade K.K.
Acting Director
Brief History of the Directorate of Part-Time Programmes
The Directorate of Part-Time Programmes started as an External Degree Programme in the 1997/1998 session with five study centres located in Ado-Ekiti, Akure, Ibadan, Lagos and Ilorin, the number of study centres however increased with time.
In 2002, following the directive of the federal government on the closure of all study centres, the Senate of the University closed all the existing study centres and absorbed the students in the various study centres into the Ado-Ekiti campus to enable them continue and complete their studies.
As of now the Part-Time Programme Unit is fully domiciled in Ifaki Campus of the University, having Liaison offices across Southwest, Nigeria. The function of these Liaison offices is to aid smooth Communication with our students who are residing in locations outside Ado-Ekiti.
From inception to date, the following individuals have served as Directors/Administrators on the programme:
- I. O. A. Adelola
- Tope Akinawo
- E. O. Ogunleye
- O. Famurewa
- Dipo Kolawole

In the year 2021, the name of the Directorate was changed from Directorate of Part Time Programmes to Directorate of Part Time and Pre-Degree Programmes. This was done with a view to harmonize the gains of availability of spaces granted the Directorate at Ifaki Campus as a result of closure of the defunct University of Science and Technology, Ifaki (USTI).
So, as at today, the Directorate houses the following units:
- Part Time Programmes (Professional Postgraduate and Undergraduate)
- Pre-Degree Programmes
The Programme:
The Programme is essentially designed as designed to run on both weekdays and weekends. The weekday is for teeming Nigerian youths who may not be able attend regular school programme for economic reasons, hence needed to be undertaking other jobs to sponsor themselves, while the weekend programme is designed to cater for working executives, middle class and junior workers seeking to improve on their employment. It therefore runs on Mondays through Thursdays (for weekday programmes) and Fridays and Saturdays and sometimes Sundays (for weekend programmes).
All programmes in the University undergraduate studies are included curricular of the Directorate.
