TWO EKSU SCHOLARS RANKED AMONG WORLD’S TOP 2% OF SCIENTISTS IN THE SUBFIELD OF ENERGY FOR 2025

Two scholars from Ekiti State University, Ado- Ekiti (EKSU), Professor Joseph Fadare of the College of Medicine and Dr. Omojola Awogbemi, a Mechanical Engineer and Senior Chief Technologist in the university have been ranked among the world’s top 2% of scientists in the subfield of Energy for 2025.

This prestigious ranking was prepared by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier and published in the Elsevier Data Repository: John P.A. (2025), “August 2025 data-update for ‘Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators,’” Elsevier Data Repository, V8, doi: 10.17632/btchxktzyw.8.

Professor Fadare, a former Dean of the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences has consistent ranked first among EKSU’S researchers over the past seven years and has surpassed 100 Scopus-indexed publications, with a significantly higher total body of scholarly work.

Dr. Awogbemi’s inclusion in this global list did not only highlight his outstanding scholarly contributions as a certified Mechanical Engineer, but also enhanced the international visibility of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti (EKSU) in the global academic community.

Dr. Awogbemi was at a time the Branch Chairman of the Ekiti State University Chapter of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT).

The Vice- Chancellor, Professor Babatola Ayodele, while receiving the news of the outstanding recognition, congratulated the two scholars as well as the University community at large on the feat. He reiterated that EKSU is known for excellence and honour which would be maintained to further promote the university globally.

While reaffirming the university’s resolve to recognize, celebrate and reward excellence, the Vice Chancellor, encouraged other members of staff to continue to make the university proud by showcasing their scholarly contributions. He also expressed gratitude to the Chancellor, Dr. Tunji Olowolafe for his sustained investments in research and capacity development.
