ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY, KEY TO SOLVING CLIMATE CHANGE CHALLENGES — EKSU VC


The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, has affirmed that Engineering and Technology hold the key to addressing the enormous challenges posed by climate change.
He made the remarks in his opening address at the 5th International Conference of the Faculty of Engineering of the university where he appreciated all participants and dignitaries for their participation. He commended the Faculty for its outstanding record of excellence and discipline.
Professor Ayodele lauded the Faculty of Engineering for maintaining a distinguished reputation devoid of any negative occurrence that could tarnish the image of the University. He reiterated EKSU’s commitment to expanding the frontiers of engineering education and research in alignment with global best practices.
The Vice Chancellor also commended Dr. Omojola Awogbemi for his remarkable achievements and recognition among the top two percent of scientists globally in the subfield of energy. According to him, the honour is not only a personal achievement, but a collective reflection of the depth of expertise and global relevance of the Faculty of Engineering.
Professor Ayodele also praised the immediate past President of the EKSU Global Alumni Association, Engr. Dipo Bamisaye, for his giant strides and exemplary leadership in strengthening the bond between the Alumni and the University.
He expressed profound gratitude to the Visitor to the University and Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, for his unwavering support and commitment to the institution. The Vice Chancellor acknowledged the Governor’s encouragement, collaboration, and financial assistance, which have helped the University in meeting its financial obligations, particularly through the timely payment of staff salaries.
In his remarks, the Dean and host of the conference, Professor I. B. Oluwafemi, described the event as coming at a critical period, not only to showcase research, but to also, cross-pollinate ideas and innovations. He expressed optimism that the conference would inspire collaborative efforts in applying engineering ingenuity towards building sustainable societies and developing technologies that serve humanity with resilience and integrity.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee stated that the Faculty had received over 80 high-quality research submissions from scholars across Nigeria and beyond. He encouraged participants to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by the conference to foster knowledge exchange and professional growth.
The conference, with the theme: ADVANCING ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY FOR A RESILIENT AND SUSTAINABLE FUTURE, was declared open by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Babatola Ayodele.
In recognition of exemplary leadership and academic excellence, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ayodele, the Keynote Speaker, Professor James Oluwagbenga Aribisala who is the Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin Ekiti and the Lead Paper Presenter, Professor Ibrahim A. Adeyanju, were each presented with Awards of Honour.
