EKSU RECEIVES MAJOR DONATION OF BOOKS AND COMPUTERS FOR FACULTY OF PHARMACY FROM ELDER STATESMAN PRINCE JULIUS ADELUSI-ADELUYI

The academic resource capacity of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Ekiti State University has received a significant boost following a generous donation of specialised pharmaceutical textbooks and modern computer systems by renowned pharmacist, elder statesman, and former Federal Minister of Health, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi.

The high-value academic resources were formally presented to the university management during an official courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele. The Vice-Chancellor, who was ably represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Williams Oluwole Adebayo, warmly received the delegation and expressed the institution’s profound gratitude for the timely intervention. The donor’s delegation was led by a distinguished corporate leader in the Nigerian pharmaceutical sector, Pharm. Lolu Ojo, FPSN, the Chief Executive Officer of Merit Healthcare Limited, who presented the items on behalf of Prince Adelusi-Adeluyi.

Library Leadership Ready for Effective Utilisation

Receiving the news of the donation with great enthusiasm, the University Librarian, Dr Modupe Aboyade, FNLA, expressed her immense joy and readiness to house the newly acquired assets within the university’s library system. Dr Aboyade assured stakeholders that the specialised books and digital tools would be immediately catalogued, strategically positioned, and managed for maximum academic utility. She emphasised that housing these resources effectively will significantly enrich research pathways, group study, and independent clinical findings for both pharmacy students and faculty researchers.

Advancing Pharmaceutical Education and Digital Literacy

This strategic donation directly aligns with the ongoing commitment of the Ifedayo Oladapo Library and the university management to integrate advanced digital infrastructure with core global text resources. The newly acquired books cover cutting-edge advancements in pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacy, and pharmacology, while the computer workstations are set to enhance digital literacy and e-resource accessibility across the campus.

Speaking on behalf of the university administration, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Williams Oluwole Adebayo, lauded Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi for his enduring legacy of philanthropy and his unyielding commitment to advancing tertiary education in Nigeria. He noted that the timely deployment of these resources into the library networks will drive academic excellence and easily support upcoming departmental accreditation benchmarks.

In his remarks, Pharm. Lolu Ojo, FPSN, emphasised that the donation represents Prince Adelusi-Adeluyi’s vision of fostering robust partnerships to bridge resource gaps in Nigerian universities. He noted that equipping the next generation of pharmacists with contemporary materials and digital research tools is vital for national healthcare security and innovation. With this development, the Ifedayo Oladapo Library, under the proactive leadership of Dr Modupe Aboyade, continues to reinforce its position as the intellectual engine room and premier information hub of Ekiti State University.
