EKSU TEAM EMERGES 1ST PLACE IN THE 2025 NATIONAL YOUNG ENGINEERS INNOVATION COMPETITION







A Team of Young Engineers from the Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti has emerged 1st place in the 2025 National Young Engineers Innovation Competition, organised by the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
The Team, comprising the Team Lead, Engr. Kehinde, Abiodun Dare, MNSE and three fresh graduates of the University, Ajayi, Oluwapelumi Oluwatosin, Owoyomi, Mercy Opeyemi and Ologuntoye, Ayomide Abidemi clinched the first position in the keenly contested National Competition through their innovative project entitled, ‘Design and Implementation of a Solar-Powered Smart Walking Stick for Visually Impaired Persons’.
The prestigious National Award was presented by the President and Chairman in Council of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, FNSE, on Tuesday 2nd December, 2025, at the Opening Ceremony of the 2025 International Conference, Exhibition and Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
The Team is immensely grateful to the Vice Chancellor, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Prof. J. B. Ayodele, the Dean of Engineering, EKSU, Engr. Prof. I. B. Oluwafemi and the HOD, Computer Engineering Department, EKSU, Engr. Dr. A. I. Fasiku for the excellent leadership and support that create and sustain the enabling environment for the Lauderdale feat.
