FLOUT MATRICULATION OATH AND BE SANCTIONED - EKSU VC WARNS

Newly admitted students into the sandwich degree programme of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti for the 2025 contact session have been warned against flouting their matriculation oaths.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Babatola Ayodele gave the warning while addressing the newly admitted students into the sandwich degree programme in Ekiti State University and other affiliated institutions in Adeshina College of Education, Share, Kwara State, College of Education, Iseyin, Oyo State and Upland College of Education, Ifira/Ipesi Akoko, Ondo State.

The Vice Chancellor, who was represented at the hybrid matriculation ceremony by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Williams Adebayo, stressed that matriculation ceremony is a tradition of oath taking which placed on them the status of full-fledged studentship of the university. According to him, “It is therefore, incumbent on you, as matriculants to live up to the matriculation oath that was taken as appropriate sanctions shall be imposed on any student who flouts any of the university rules and regulations”. He, therefore, charged them to make the best use of the opportunities offered them by the university and their parents.

Professor Ayodele also maintained that the sandwich programmes “are to nurture and prepare the students for the future by becoming enigmas of great repute”. He, thereafter, congratulated them on their admission into the university which is “one of the best sought-after ivory towers in the country owing to its academic excellence” and also, charged them to make best use of the opportunities offered by Ekiti State University, currently the best state university in Nigeria.

Earlier in their addresses, the Provosts of the affiliated colleges congratulated the matriculants and advised them to strive for excellence, hard work  and guide against all forms of anti social behaviour for them to achieve the desired excellence.

The matriculation oath was administered on the matriculants by the Registrar, Mr. Ife Oluwole, represented by the university’s Director of Personnel, Mr. Babatunde Awe, after the presentation of the candidates by the Dean, Faculty of Education, Professor Timothy Akinwamide.

The event which took place at the university’s   Faculty of the Social Sciences twin hall, had in attendance, Principal Officers of the university, large number of the newly admitted sandwich students and their friends.
